Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at the photo shoot?

Plan on about 45 minutes to an hour for the photo shoot. I will help you capture your own personal style whether it is vintage, playful, rustic, cowboy charm, flirty, sassy, fun, contemporary, elegant, classic or traditional.

Where is the best location?
Outdoor locations, with natural light have the best results. I have plenty of ideas, but if you have something in mind let me know.

What kind of Backgrounds can I choose from:
Natural - greenery, trees, grass, mountains, water, flowers, cactus, orange trees
Urban - brick wall, old building, stairs, street, store front
Rustic - wooden barn, old cars or farming equipment, train tracks
Vintage - brick wall, old windows, old doors
Temple or Church - religious building of your choice, void where prohibited
Other Ideas - let me know what you have in mind and we can come up with more ideas.

What kind of Props can I choose from?
You are welcome to bring any props you would like as long as they are family friendly, please let us know ahead of time so we will know what to plan for. Some great ideas are benches, bar stools, wooden chairs or crates, blankets, chalk boards, balloons, baskets, picnic items, bicycle, flowers, books, old record players, sports items, flag, hats, suitcase, the ideas are endless, look on pinterest for fun ideas. Or if you prefer no props at all that is great too!

What is the best time for a photo shoot?
The best lighting is during the first few hours just after sunrise or right before sunset. However this can be challenging if it doesn't work with your schedule. I typically do shoots around 9 am or 4 pm. For best results with small children, schedule the shoot when they are happiest; after naptime and when they are not hungry.

Can I change outfits?
Yes, if you would like to have a different look you can change outfits, however you don't have to.

What is the best color to wear?
It depends on the look your are going for and your personal style. Generally bright colors look best, if you would like to wear white or light colors - have everyone in the grouping wearing a similar color (if some are white and some are black the results will not be as good). Also avoid exactly matching outfits or shirts, instead wear something that goes well together. Long sleeved shirts and layers (cardigan or jacket) have the best results.

What should I bring?
Bring any props, hats, or furniture (chair, stool...) you would like... or nothing at all. It is up to you.

What exactly do I get?
You will receive a disc with high resolution digital images with a print release. If you are interested in prints, contact me and I will put together a customized print package for you.
